Images circulating online appear to show a substantially complete COMAC CE-25A electric-aircraft demonstrator parked at an unidentified airfield. The aircraft is attributed to China’s state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), which presented the 19-seat design in 2023. Its ten electrically driven ducted fans, arranged in groups along the wings, recall the propulsion layout used in Lilium’s aircraft concept, but there is no established link between the programmes. The photographs do not confirm that the CE-25A has flown.
COMAC introduced the CE-25A as a proposed all-electric aircraft for short- and medium-distance passenger transport and business aviation. Its design calls for a cruise speed of about 400 km/h; published range targets vary between 400–500 km and 400–600 km. These remain targets, not demonstrated performance figures for the aircraft pictured.
At the 2023 presentation, COMAC reported completion of an experimental verification flight. Available reporting indicates that this involved a scaled demonstrator, rather than a full-size aircraft. The status of the aircraft in the images, whose authenticity has not been independently established, remains unclear. COMAC has not confirmed its flight status or provided a certification or production schedule.
COMAC announced battery-aircraft research cooperation with CATL and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2025, but no direct connection between that work and the CE-25A has been established.
