Boeing flags 10–15 777-9 deliveries in 2027 if certification slips

Boeing could deliver 10 to 15 777-9s in 2027 if further certification delays push the programme later into the year, chief financial officer Jay Malave indicated during the company’s third-quarter results discussion on 27 October. The range is conditional, not a revised baseline forecast. Boeing continues to target a first delivery in 2027 and says certification flight testing is progressing.

Chief executive Kelly Ortberg said Boeing had built schedule pressure into its financial planning but was still working towards certification. The programme remains substantially behind its original schedule, and Boeing’s published third-quarter results did not specify a 2027 delivery quantity.

Lufthansa is expected to be the 777-9’s first operator. The airline has left the aircraft out of its Frankfurt summer 2027 schedule and plans to keep Airbus A340-300s in service instead, reflecting uncertainty over when initial deliveries will support fleet planning.
