Air Canada launches seasonal Toronto and Montreal flights to Tenerife

Air Canada has begun seasonal non-stop flights from Toronto Pearson to Tenerife South, opening the first direct air links between North America and the Canary Islands. The service started on 25 October, with departures on Thursdays and Sundays. A second route, from Montreal, is scheduled to begin on 31 October, operating once a week on Saturdays. Both routes are part of the airline’s winter 2026–27 programme.

Air Canada is using the Airbus A321XLR on the routes. The aircraft has 182 seats, including 14 in Signature Class. The Montreal service was around 85% booked for November, with a similar proportion of seats sold for December, the airline’s network-planning vice-president told PAX News.

The Montreal route is planned to operate through spring and summer 2027, while extending Toronto service year-round is a possibility under consideration, potentially by summer 2028. Neither prospect represents a confirmed schedule change.

The flights are intended to improve Tenerife’s access to Canadian travellers and, through Montreal connections, passengers from the United States. On 27 October, a delegation of about 10 tourism, hotel and business representatives from Tenerife visited Air Canada’s Montreal headquarters to promote the destination and meet airline officials and Canadian travel partners. Local tourism officials also see scope for the routes to support business, cultural and cruise-related travel.
