Turkish Airlines signs MOU with CFM for more than 300 737 MAX engines

Turkish Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with CFM International covering more than 300 LEAP-1B engines, including spares, for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The agreement combines engines for 100 firm aircraft and 50 options with long-term support for more than 600 LEAP-1B engines operated by Turkish Airlines and subsidiary AJet.

The aircraft are part of an order disclosed in September. The services arrangement extends beyond the new deliveries to include engines already ordered or delivered, spare engines, units installed on leased aircraft and engines linked to potential future options.

The MOU also includes a material-services agreement to support the establishment of a LEAP-1B maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Türkiye. Turkish Technic is involved in the planned capability, which would expand the group’s local engine-maintenance activities.

Turkish Airlines and AJet currently operate 79 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft powered by LEAP-1B engines, alongside 96 737 Next Generation aircraft equipped with CFM56-7B engines. The agreement is a preliminary framework; it does not confirm delivery schedules, engine pricing or an operating date for the proposed MRO facility.
