PIA to install lie-flat seats in Boeing 777 cabin overhaul

Pakistan International Airlines has signed an agreement with Aviationscouts, part of Germany’s Aerotec Group, for a phased cabin-modernization programme covering five selected Boeing 777 aircraft, with options for four more. The work will introduce full-flat Business Class seats, refurbish Economy Class seating and install 60-watt in-seat power and upgraded passenger-service systems throughout the cabin.

The programme also includes new carpets, branding elements and other interior components. Aviationscouts will support engineering, certification, procurement, logistics, project management and technical coordination, with the work aligned with PIA’s fleet plans and maintenance schedules.

PIA is targeting a stronger long-haul cabin product through improved seating comfort and passenger functionality. However, the available information does not specify which aircraft will be modified, when installation will begin or when refurbished aircraft will return to service.

PIA’s description refers to full-flat Business Class seating, while executive remarks mention “executive economy flat-bed seats”. The final cabin location and configuration should therefore be treated as subject to clarification. The four additional aircraft remain optional, and there is no confirmation that all nine aircraft will ultimately undergo refurbishment.
