Polish Aviation Group (PGL), the parent of LOT Polish Airlines, plans to establish an independent all-cargo airline and acquire dedicated freighters under its strategy for 2026–2032, with an outlook to 2035. The proposed operation, provisionally referred to as PGL Cargo, would conduct commercial freight services separately from LOT, which would continue carrying belly cargo on passenger aircraft.
PGL is positioning the project as Poland’s first dedicated all-cargo airline. Its own freighters would be intended to support a dual-use model: commercial cargo operations in normal conditions and strategic transport for the Polish state during emergencies or crises. The group has not disclosed the aircraft types, fleet size, acquisition method, routes, operating base or launch date, and the company had not been registered when the plan was reported.
The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to integrate PGL’s six subsidiaries and expand its cargo infrastructure. LS Airport Services is expected to support the development of modern cargo terminals, while widebody maintenance capacity would be expanded at Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport.
The proposal is separate from LOT’s current fleet plans. LOT has indicated that it was not involved in, or informed about, PGL’s earlier plans for a freighter operation; the airline is expected to retain its existing belly-cargo role rather than introduce dedicated freighters. The project remains a strategic plan, with no binding aircraft order or implementation timetable disclosed.
