Atlantic Airways orders two Airbus A320neos

Atlantic Airways has signed a firm order with Airbus for two A320neo aircraft as the Faroe Islands’ national airline moves towards an all-A320neo fleet. The additional aircraft are intended to improve operational efficiency, generate fleet synergies and simplify maintenance as the carrier phases out its older-generation A320ceos.

Atlantic Airways currently operates four A320-family aircraft: two A320ceos and two A320neos. The new order supports the airline’s fleet-renewal strategy and its role in maintaining regional connectivity for the Faroese communities.

Board chairman Niels Mortensen described the purchase as a significant step towards an exclusively A320neo fleet and linked the investment to continued fleet renewal and efficient operations. Airbus executive vice-president for commercial-aircraft sales Benoît de Saint-Exupéry characterised the order as a strengthening of the companies’ partnership.

Airbus did not disclose delivery dates, cabin configurations, engine selections, purchase value or financing arrangements for the two aircraft. Separate industry reporting indicates that Atlantic Airways already has two further A320neos due for delivery in 2028 and 2029, which would bring its outstanding commitments for the type to four.
