Iranian missiles damaged multiple American military aircraft at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, including one A-10 Thunderbolt II that lost a wing and about eight F-15 fighters that sustained light damage, in an overnight strike on 8-9 September. The base, used by U.S. forces for regional operations, came under attack as American air defences fired about 30 Patriot interceptors to help repel the barrage.
Jordan’s military said 20 ballistic missiles were launched toward its territory, with 18 intercepted and two landing in unpopulated areas. The damage to the aircraft was confirmed after the attack, but the exact mechanism was not disclosed.
The reported aircraft damage adds to pressure on U.S. air-defence inventories at a time of sustained regional missile threats. The lightly damaged F-15s were returned to service, while the A-10 remained out of action after the strike.
