Texel Air has taken delivery of a Boeing 737-800BCF freighter that arrived at Auckland Airport on 10 October, expanding its New Zealand operation to three aircraft. Named Florence, the former Virgin Australia passenger aircraft was converted in China and is Boeing’s 200th 737-800BCF. The arrival also lifts Texel Air’s Australasian fleet of the type to seven aircraft.
Two of Texel’s New Zealand aircraft are based in Auckland and one in Christchurch. Two are contracted to NZ Post and Freightways, supporting domestic air-freight services and increasing the operator’s capacity in the market. Texel acquired Florence in cooperation with BBAM Aircraft Leasing & Management.
A further 737-800BCF is scheduled to join the New Zealand operation in January 2027. The aircraft is undergoing conversion in China and is expected to leave the facility at the end of December. No registration, payload or commercial service schedule has been disclosed for either the newly delivered aircraft or the planned addition.
