Vietjet launches Hanoi–Almaty–Prague services in first EU expansion

Vietjet has launched twice-weekly services linking Hanoi with Almaty and Prague, as well as Almaty with Prague, using Airbus A330 aircraft. The network, inaugurated on 10 October, makes Prague the Vietnamese carrier’s first destination in the European Union and establishes scheduled links between Vietnam, Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic. Hanoi–Prague flights initially operate via a technical stop in Almaty, where Vietjet can sell tickets for the connecting sector.

The services operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Flights from Hanoi depart at 08:25 and reach Prague at 18:55, while return flights leave Prague at 20:55 and arrive in Hanoi at 16:20 the following day, according to local schedules. The A330-300 deployed on the route has a reported capacity of 377 passengers and offers economy, Business and SkyBoss cabins.

Inaugural ceremonies at Almaty International Airport and Václav Havel Airport Prague included water-cannon salutes and local welcome events. Prague Airport expects the route to carry more than 67,000 passengers in its first year. Fifth-freedom rights allow Vietjet to sell seats between Almaty and Prague, supporting traffic between Central Asia and Central Europe as well as Vietnam–Europe travel.

The Almaty stop is expected to be removed in the coming months, although no firm timetable has been established. Vietjet chief executive Nguyen Thanh Son described the launch as a step in the airline’s international expansion and indicated that further European services are planned.
