Cirium cuts 20-year aircraft delivery forecast to 43,000 as production constraints persist

Cirium’s Ascend Consultancy expects approximately 43,000 new passenger and cargo aircraft to be delivered worldwide between 2026 and 2045, with a combined value of about $3.2 trillion at 2026 prices. The forecast covers commercial jets and turboprops and represents a reduction from last year’s projection of 46,500 aircraft valued at $3.4 trillion over the comparable 20-year period.

The revision reflects continuing limits on aircraft production capacity and persistent supply-chain disruption, despite strong long-term demand for fleet expansion and replacement. Cirium’s latest Fleet Forecast indicates that manufacturers and suppliers may not be able to convert the full level of market demand into deliveries at the pace previously anticipated.

The outlook applies to the global commercial aviation market rather than a specific airline, manufacturer or region. It was prepared by Ascend Consultancy, Cirium’s aviation-analysis division, and provides a broad assessment of future passenger and freighter deliveries. No further breakdown by aircraft type, manufacturer, geography or delivery timing was provided in the available forecast summary.
