GOL Linhas Aéreas Adds Airbus A330-900neo Widebodies to Fleet for North America and Europe Routes

Brazilian carrier GOL Linhas Aéreas has announced the addition of up to five Airbus A330-900neo widebody aircraft to its fleet, marking its entry into intercontinental operations. The aircraft, each accommodating nearly 300 passengers with a range of up to 15 hours, will connect Brazil to destinations in the United States and Europe.

Deliveries are scheduled in phases throughout 2026 and 2027. This move diversifies GOL’s all-Boeing narrowbody fleet, previously focused on domestic and regional routes. The A330-900neo, leased through an ACMI agreement, supports GOL’s expansion following its emergence from Chapter 11 bankruptcy nine months ago.

GOL, founded 25 years ago and recognized as Brazil’s most on-time airline, positions the widebodies to launch long-haul services. CEO Celso Ferrer noted the incorporation enables new operations, though specific routes and timelines remain limited in disclosure. The aircraft’s efficiency aligns with GOL’s strategy to grow beyond South America amid recovering demand.

Prior to this, GOL operated solely narrowbodies like the Boeing 737 family. The shift to widebodies reflects broader fleet diversification, with initial units expected in 2026 pending standard delivery conditions.
