Avcon Industries has delivered its first modified King Air B200 mosquito-control aircraft, extending the Kansas-based special-mission aircraft maker’s work into aerial mosquito abatement. The aircraft, a King Air Model B200 adapted for large-area liquid dispersal, was fitted with a removable under-fuselage pod, an electric pump, aerodynamic fairings and dispersal booms for operations in Florida.
The configuration combines Avcon’s engineering with existing fluid-dispersal technology and is aimed at special-mission use rather than general aviation. The delivery was made for the Lee County Mosquito Control District, which will use the turboprop in mosquito mitigation missions. Avcon is a subsidiary of Butler National Corporation and markets the platform as part of its aircraft modification and certification capability for custom mission work.
