Virgin Australia Brings Milestone 150th Boeing 737 Into Service with Retro Livery

Virgin Australia has placed its milestone 150th Boeing 737 into commercial service, marking a new stage in the airline’s single-aisle fleet development.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737 from the latest generation of the type operated by the carrier, features a special retro livery recalling the airline’s early branding. The all-red scheme is positioned as a heritage tribute while the aircraft joins regular operations on the network.

The jet carries the names of 8,000 Virgin Australia team members on its fuselage, highlighting the contribution of flight crews, ground staff and support personnel across the company. The airline identifies the aircraft as its 150th 737 since the launch of operations under the Virgin Blue name in 2000, and as part of the current mainline 737 fleet.

This entry into service follows an ongoing fleet renewal and expansion program centered on the 737 family. Over the current calendar year, Virgin Australia is scheduled to receive a total of 12 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, which will progressively replace older units and support capacity growth on domestic and short-haul international routes.
