Iran Air is preparing to bring two more Airbus A300-600 aircraft back into active service as it moves ahead with plans to restore East Asia routes after more than a decade. The carrier is also weighing a wider network rebuild that could eventually include Europe, where services remain subject to the lifting of restrictions.
Chief executive Taher Abdolhay outlined the reactivation plan in a briefing to Iran’s transport ministry, alongside financing and execution details for the next phase of the fleet restart. Each of the A300-600s has 265 seats, adding much-needed capacity to a fleet that has been constrained for years.
The carrier is building short-, medium- and long-term network plans, with domestic capability taking priority before the revival of long-haul international services. East Asia is expected to come first, while a return to Europe is framed as a longer-term objective. Possible future European destinations mentioned include Stockholm, Gothenburg, Milan and Rome, although no launch timetable has been set.
