United Airlines is adding 10 new international cities for 2027 and introducing its Airbus A321XLR as part of the carrier’s largest overseas network expansion to date. The “Born to Explore” A321XLR will carry 20 Polaris suites and will begin international service on 1 December, with initial flights from Washington Dulles to Amsterdam and Dublin.
The expansion stretches across Europe and Asia and includes Okinawa, Luxembourg City, Toulouse, Marseille, Ibiza, Valencia, Terceira, Ljubljana, Olbia and Catania. Several of the new European routes will be operated by the A321XLR, allowing United to serve thinner long-haul markets with a smaller aircraft than a widebody.
The airline also plans to use the type first on domestic services in September before deploying it internationally later in the year. Tickets for the first international A321XLR flights go on sale on 27 August, while summer 2027 schedules will include five A321XLR Europe routes from Newark and Washington Dulles.
