SAS marks 80 years with anniversary flights to New York

SAS is celebrating its 80th anniversary with special flights from Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo to New York, linking the milestone to the city served by its first intercontinental service in 1946. The programme centres on a one-day reception in New York and highlights the airline’s long-haul network across Scandinavia, with the anniversary flights carrying passengers from the carrier’s three main Nordic hubs.

The initiative frames eight decades of operations around SAS’s role connecting Scandinavia with destinations beyond Europe. New York remains the symbolic focus because it was the destination of the airline’s first transatlantic flight, a route that helped establish its long-haul identity. The anniversary activity also brings together the three capital airports that form the core of SAS’s regional network, underlining the carrier’s continued presence in the Nordic market.
