Qantas has opened its Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide’s CBD, bringing software, digital design, product and data teams together in a new hub expected to support more than 400 technology roles over the next three years. The first 50 employees were already in place when the centre opened, while recruitment was under way for about 40 more positions.
The Pirie Street site is designed to speed up in-house development of customer-facing digital tools, including booking, disruption management and support systems. It forms part of a commercial agreement with the South Australian government and expands Qantas’s technology footprint in the state. The centre will also work with Adelaide University on graduate pathways, with the first intake scheduled to begin in February 2027.
Qantas has framed the Adelaide operation as a regional delivery hub for product managers, digital experience designers, software engineers and data and AI specialists. The opening adds to the airline’s broader push to bring more digital capability inside the business and to build products faster for its customer journey.
