Porsche SE has taken a stake in U.S. rocket developer Stoke Space Technologies in a low double-digit million-dollar investment. The German holding company is backing the Seattle-area startup as it develops Nova, a two-stage launch vehicle designed for full reusability of both stages, with first flight planned for early 2027.
The investment forms part of Stoke Space’s Series E financing round, which lifted total funding to about $1 billion. Stoke Space is building out its launch system around higher flight rates and lower costs than conventional rockets, while also expanding production and test infrastructure to support the programme.
The move is Porsche SE’s second known space investment after its 2021 backing of Isar Aerospace. It extends the holding company’s push beyond its core stakes in Volkswagen and Porsche AG and adds another European capital provider to a U.S. launch startup competing in the commercial space market.
