Pakistan extends airspace ban on Indian aircraft until 24 October

Pakistan has extended its airspace closure for Indian-registered aircraft until 24 October, prolonging a restriction that continues to force carriers such as Air India onto longer routings. The new notice covers aircraft owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines and also includes military flights, affecting both of Pakistan’s flight information regions.

The latest NOTAM took effect at 10:45 a.m. and replaces an earlier limit that was due to expire on 24 September. Industry routing across the India-Pakistan corridor remains disrupted, with airlines facing higher fuel burn, longer block times and added schedule complexity on services that would normally cross Pakistani airspace.

The closure has been in place since April 2025 amid ongoing tensions between the two countries and has now been extended repeatedly. One report described the latest move as the 17th extension since the ban began, underscoring how the airspace curbs have become a recurring operational constraint for Indian carriers and military operators alike.
