Lufthansa Cargo to acquire LUG Aircargo Handling

Lufthansa Cargo has signed an agreement to fully acquire LUG Aircargo Handling from the Dettmer Group, with the deal aimed at expanding its ground handling capacity in Germany. The takeover remains subject to antitrust and other regulatory approvals, while LUG is set to continue operating as an independent market player and maintain existing customer relationships.

LUG employs about 400 people and operates roughly 50,000 square metres of covered warehouse space, alongside another 18,000 square metres of office and infrastructure space. No purchase price was disclosed. The transaction adds to Lufthansa Cargo’s handling footprint in one of Europe’s key air freight markets, strengthening its infrastructure at a time when capacity and service control remain central to cargo operations.
