Vertical Aviation International has expanded its Rotor Pathway programme into Louisiana, linking high school students in Bossier Parish and Caddo Parish with Southern University at Shreveport for a new route into vertical aviation maintenance careers. The initiative will let students begin training while still in school and earn college credit as they prepare for work on rotorcraft.
Louisiana becomes the latest state to join the model, which already operates in Utah and North Dakota. The programme first launched in 2019 in Utah and has involved Southern Utah University, Utah Valley University and Cedar Valley High School in Eagle Mountain. VAI has framed the expansion as a response to the sector’s shortage of qualified maintenance professionals, particularly mechanics needed across the vertical aviation fleet.
The Louisiana track gives the programme a broader regional footprint and places a college partner in Shreveport at the centre of the new pathway. By connecting school districts with an aviation education provider, the initiative is designed to move students from introductory exposure to a recognised career route in aircraft maintenance.
