Joby begins first eIPP flights in Texas

Joby Aviation has launched its first flights under the US eVTOL Integration Pilot Program in Texas, starting a week-long campaign across North Texas on 10 September that includes operations around Dallas-Fort Worth and direct flights into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The demonstration flights are taking place with the company’s electric air taxi in a controlled, real-world airspace setting under TxDOT’s Project Nexus framework.

The programme covers routes between Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport, Arlington, Plano and DFW, with planned legs including a kickoff at Alliance, an arrival at DFW Corporate Aviation, an Arlington round trip and a route linking Alliance to Toyota Motor North America’s headquarters in Plano. Joby is using the campaign to collect operational data for the FAA as it develops safety rules for commercial eVTOL service at scale.

The Texas flights build on earlier demonstrations in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City and follow years of research with the FAA and NASA. They are part of the federal eIPP initiative unveiled in March 2026 and are intended to test how powered-lift aircraft can operate safely in busy urban airspace and controlled airport environments before the company moves towards passenger service.
