Iberia is increasing capacity between Madrid and Andalusia after the high-speed rail accident in Urda, Toledo, adding 520 seats across services to Málaga and Seville. The 20% increase includes an additional Madrid–Málaga round trip, while fares on all Madrid–Andalusia flights will be capped through 8 November at €99 each way in Economy and €149 in Business.
The additional capacity comprises 362 seats on Madrid–Málaga flights and 158 on Madrid–Seville services. Iberia has also scheduled flight IB049 from Madrid to Málaga at 20:00, with IB048 returning from Málaga at 22:00.
The measures follow disruption to high-speed rail links between Madrid and southern Spain, which has increased demand for alternative transport. Iberia is also offering flexible ticket changes to passengers whose travel plans have been affected. Changes can be managed through the airline’s customer-service line on 900 111 500.
The extra seats and additional service were available on Wednesday, while the fare cap will remain in place until Sunday, 8 November. Further capacity increases will be assessed in line with transport demand.
