Germany dominates glider aerobatics world championships in Fayence

Germany swept the Advanced class at the World Glider Aerobatic Championships in Fayence, France, with Tobias Ohlig taking the title ahead of Nick Charly Weiss and Stefan Zistler. Germany also secured the Advanced team crown, while Czech pilot Oliver Adamy won the top-class world title and Germany’s Michael Spitzer finished second.

The championships ran from 2 to 12 September and brought together the sport’s leading teams for the season’s major international contest. In the team standings for the top class, the Czech Republic finished first ahead of Germany and Poland.

The results underline Germany’s strength in Advanced, where its pilots occupied all three podium places. The title fight in the top class was tighter, but Adamy’s victory and the Czech team win gave the host continent’s central European rivals a split outcome across the two categories.
