Frequentis wins Singapore air traffic communications contract

Singapore’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAS) has selected Frequentis to supply a next-generation integrated voice communication system and recording and playback system for its air traffic control operations. The contract covers the supply, installation and commissioning of the X10 voice communication system and GuardX recording and playback system, including automatic speech-to-text, as well as supporting voice, data and network-management solutions with integrated cybersecurity features.

The systems will support CAAS’s upgrade of air-navigation communications as traffic grows. X10 uses a multi-site architecture with built-in redundancy, designed to support service availability and operational continuity. The combined platform will bring voice communications and recording functions into a scalable, secure system for the authority’s air traffic controllers.

Frequentis executive vice-president for air traffic management Reinhard Grimm described the platform as intended to support safe, reliable and efficient air traffic control. The contract value, implementation timetable and commissioning date have not been disclosed.
