Boeing and SPEEA reach tentative four-year contract deal

Boeing has reached a tentative four-year contract agreement with the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, the union representing about 17,000 engineers and technical staff in the company’s Seattle-area operations. The deal offers higher general wage increases than Boeing’s earlier proposal and comes before the current contract expires on 6 October, reducing the immediate risk of a strike if members approve the terms.

If ratified, the agreement would deliver a 10% wage increase on 16 October, followed by 4% raises and merit-based increases in each of the next four years through 2030. The package also revises work-from-home policies and overtime limits for professional unit members. Boeing has framed the offer as addressing employee priorities including an immediate pay rise and larger guaranteed wage pools.

SPEEA described the tentative deal as incomplete but a step forward on pay, work-life balance and relations with Boeing leadership. Members rejected Boeing’s previous offer overwhelmingly on 21 August, leaving labour talks under pressure ahead of the contract deadline.
