Airbus forecasts that Latin American airlines will require 2,720 new passenger aircraft between 2025 and 2045, an increase of 280 aircraft from its previous estimate. The projection, presented at the ALTA AGM and Airline Leaders Forum in Mexico City, points to sustained fleet growth and replacement demand, particularly for single-aisle aircraft, as regional traffic and economies expand.
Airbus’s updated Global Market Forecast anticipates above-global-average gross domestic product growth in Latin America, while international trade is expected to increase by about 3% annually. Those trends are expected to support higher demand for air travel and additional capacity across the region.
Latin America is identified as the world’s largest regional market for single-aisle aircraft demand. Airbus also ranks it second only to India in the adoption of newer-generation aircraft, with such models accounting for 45% of the region’s active fleet in 2025.
The forecast covers passenger aircraft demand across the region but does not provide a complete public breakdown by country, airline or growth and replacement requirements. The updated figure nevertheless increases the potential market for aircraft manufacturers, lessors, airports and maintenance providers over the two-decade period.
