Vueling extends Barcelona–Madrid flights through summer 2027

Vueling will continue flying between Barcelona and Madrid through the summer 2027 season, adding 260,000 seats to a route that was due to end on 29 March. The IAG-owned carrier plans to bring total capacity to nearly 350,000 seats, with the additional inventory to be loaded into its booking system over the coming days and weeks. It also plans to increase frequencies to as many as five daily flights during peak periods and use larger aircraft.

The airline resumed regular service on 5 October with ten weekly flights. Saturday service began on 31 October, taking the schedule to 11 weekly flights, and Vueling added a daily flight from Tuesday to Thursday during the week of 2 November, bringing service on those days to three daily flights. No timetable has been given for the planned peak-period schedule.

Vueling withdrew from the city pair in March 2025. The renewed service is aimed mainly at business travellers, competing with high-speed rail and other airlines. Rail held an 81.5% share of the Barcelona–Madrid market in 2024. Iberia operates 14 daily flights in each direction, while Air Europa also serves the route.

Between 29 October and 5 November, Vueling added more than 7,200 seats across routes from Barcelona to Seville, Málaga, Jerez and Madrid. From January, Barcelona–Seville is scheduled to reach eight daily flights.
