Air Europa has extended its exclusive Boeing 787 nacelle maintenance agreement with Collins Aerospace, an RTX business, through 2037. The renewed arrangement covers nacelle and thrust-reverser services for the airline’s 787 fleet and combines global repair capacity, parts support and maintenance planning with a forward-exchange solution designed to improve aircraft-on-ground response and control operating costs.
Under the revised service structure, Air Europa will stage nacelles at its main base. Replacement units can be supplied before the affected nacelle is sent for maintenance, reducing exposure to repair turnaround times and supporting parts availability during unscheduled events.
Collins will provide technical expertise, repair capacity and maintenance planning as the airline’s 787 fleet matures. Air Europa chief technical officer Pedro Macías described the extension as a continuation of the carrier’s confidence in Collins’ nacelle-support capabilities, while PJ Titone, Collins’ vice-president and general manager of Aerostructures, linked the arrangement to the airline’s long-term fleet strategy.
The programme is intended to improve operational reliability, reduce unscheduled downtime and make shop-visit planning more predictable. It is also designed to manage maintenance, transportation and nacelle-leasing costs. The companies did not disclose the number of aircraft covered, the agreement’s financial value or the location of the principal base where spare nacelles will be positioned.
