Aeroflot has signed a contract for 90 more Russian-made MC-21-310 aircraft, lifting its firm commitment for the type to 108 jets after an earlier order for 18 units in 2023. The deal was concluded in Moscow with Rostec-related entities and covers deliveries from 2029 to 2032, along with 22 years of technical support, crew training and maintenance services.
The new aircraft will be the MC-21-310 variant powered by the PD-14 engine, with locally sourced systems replacing foreign components. The delivery plan for the additional 90 aircraft is phased, with 14 due in 2029, 18 in 2030, 24 in 2031 and 34 in 2032.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony linked to Sheremetyevo Airport, with President Vladimir Putin joining by video link. Russian sources described it as the largest contract in the history of the country’s civil aviation sector, underscoring the scale of Aeroflot’s fleet renewal programme and the importance of the MC-21 to domestic aerospace industry plans.
