TRV-150 Fires Three-Pod APKWS Launcher in Counter-Drone Trial

A BAE Systems TRV-150 uncrewed aircraft intercepted multiple one-way attack drones during a US Army-related trial at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, firing laser-guided Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) rockets from a three-pod launcher. The aircraft engaged targets in succession without landing or reloading. The tests took place in late September during a Mission Capabilities Joint Readiness Experimentation exercise; BAE disclosed the results on 21 October.

The TRV-150 is a modified T-150, a logistics drone made by BAE subsidiary Malloy Aeronautics. SURVICE Engineering adapted the aircraft to US Army requirements, while BAE’s FalconWorks developed and integrated the APKWS installation. The exercise assessed the use of lower-cost precision weapons on an uncrewed platform against drone threats. BAE described the launcher system as production-ready, but the trial does not establish that it has entered operational service.

The demonstration builds on a single-shot precision-munition firing from an adapted T-150 in July 2025. The aircraft has also been used for tactical logistics: during an eight-month Indo-Pacific deployment in 2025, it carried supplies between Royal Navy ships. BAE and its partners plan to explore adapting the counter-drone capability for maritime use. No details were provided on the number or types of targets engaged, or on the sequence of the interceptions; maritime operations remain a future objective.
