Bell Textron has secured an order from Global Medical Response (GMR) for additional Bell 407GXis, which will join the US operator’s helicopter air ambulance fleet. The aircraft are intended for emergency medical missions in rural and metropolitan communities. The order was announced at the Air Medical Transport Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, on 28 October. Bell did not disclose the number of helicopters or their delivery schedule.
GMR operates more than 170 Bell aircraft, forming the manufacturer’s largest helicopter air ambulance fleet. The new 407GXis will support missions where distance or weather can constrain response, with their instrument flight rules capability allowing operations in challenging conditions.
The 407GXi is equipped with Garmin G1000H NXi avionics. Bell also points to the aircraft’s fuel efficiency and cabin access as features suited to time-sensitive patient transport. GMR described the purchase as part of its investment in safety, clinical performance and operational readiness.
