Beyond Aero Secures Commitments for 200 Hydrogen-Electric Business Aircraft

Beyond Aero is presenting its hydrogen-electric One business aircraft at NBAA-BACE 2026 as the Toulouse-based startup advances development and reports commitments or letters of intent for approximately 200 aircraft from 43 prospective operators. If converted into firm orders, the agreements could represent more than $2 billion in sales, implying a prospective unit price of about $10 million.

The six-seat One is designed for an 800-nautical-mile range and a 300-knot cruise speed. Its powertrain will use gaseous hydrogen stored at 700 bar, with six fuel cells supplying 2.4 MW to two 1-MW electric motors. Ground testing of the powertrain, including EKPO fuel cells, is under way in Toulouse.

Beyond Aero has completed its preliminary design review and is preparing for a critical design review, supplier onboarding and development of a full-scale prototype. The company is working towards EASA certification and targeting a first flight in 2029, although detailed schedules for the remaining milestones have not been published.

The commitments are prospective rather than firm sales. Beyond Aero expects charter and aircraft-management fleets to account for about half of eventual demand, with the remainder divided between high-net-worth individuals and corporate flight departments. The company is also developing hydrogen-refuelling arrangements with airport and aviation partners in southern France and plans further funding rounds as the programme progresses.
