Cabo Verde’s state-owned Linhas Aéreas de Cabo Verde (LACV), trading as CV Sky, has taken delivery of a third ATR 72-600. Registered D4-CCP, the aircraft is the first of two turboprops being introduced under a 12-year operating lease with Avation and its affiliate AVAP Leasing, expanding the carrier’s fleet for domestic inter-island services.
The aircraft was handed over at ATR’s facility in Toulouse on 7 October. It is undergoing preparation and repainting in France before being flown to Cabo Verde, where arrival is expected by the end of October. It had not yet been confirmed for passenger service as of 15 October.
The lease is supported by a Cabo Verde government sovereign guarantee of up to US$3.7 million, approved on 29 September. The guarantee runs for eight years, while the lease covers 144 months.
A second aircraft, manufacturer’s serial number 1830, is expected from early 2027, subject to a separate government guarantee. CV Sky began operations in 2025 through ACMI arrangements and started its own operations during the IATA summer 2026 season. The ATR 72-600s will support higher frequencies and improved connectivity across the archipelago, including airports with relatively short runways.
