Lufthansa to deploy first A350-1000 on Munich–Tokyo route

Lufthansa will introduce its first Airbus A350-1000 into scheduled passenger service on 3 December 2026, initially operating from Munich to Tokyo Haneda. The aircraft is expected to arrive from Airbus’s Toulouse facilities in mid-November, allowing the airline to complete final preparations before launching the new type on the long-haul route.

The aircraft, registered D-AIFA and named Deutschland, will wear Lufthansa’s blue anniversary livery. It is planned to become the 700th aircraft delivered by Airbus to the Lufthansa Group. Shanghai and Singapore will follow as additional destinations in the subsequent weeks, with the three Asian routes served alternately by the A350-1000 and A350-900, both fitted with Lufthansa’s Allegris cabin.

The Munich-based aircraft will have 300 seats in four classes: First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy. The published layout includes 49 Business Class seats, 35 Premium Economy seats and 212 Economy seats, with the remaining seats assigned to First Class.

At 73.8 metres, the A350-1000 is about seven metres longer than the A350-900. Lufthansa Group has ordered 15 aircraft for delivery by 2030, with the first ten planned to operate for Lufthansa from Munich.
