Lufthansa City Airlines selects A220 pilot training app

Lufthansa City Airlines has selected an iPad training application from Austrian software provider Heading 365 for its Airbus A220 pilots. The airline-customised tool simulates the aircraft’s flight management system, associated cockpit displays and functions of the automatic flight control system. It is intended to let pilots practise procedures and flight scenarios independently, complementing formal type-rating and simulator training.

The application is also designed to help pilots prepare for the A220 type rating and reduce demand on simulator-training resources. No estimate has been provided for potential simulator-time savings, and details on the cost, number of pilots covered or rollout schedule are not available.

Lufthansa City Airlines expects its A220s to reinforce its Frankfurt fleet from early 2027. The timing of access to the training app has not been specified.
