Condor remains unaffected by current limitations on kerosene supplies at Frankfurt Airport, with all flights operating as scheduled and no passenger restrictions reported. The German leisure airline is monitoring the situation with its partners, while Lufthansa has introduced precautionary fuel measures on selected services to Germany’s largest aviation hub.
The supply pressure reflects months of low water levels on the Rhine, which have reduced the amount of kerosene tanker vessels can deliver via inland waterways. A pipeline serving Frankfurt is also operating at reduced capacity during scheduled maintenance.
Lufthansa is responding by loading additional fuel at departure airports before selected flights to Frankfurt, reducing the need for refuelling at the hub. The measure initially focused on short- and medium-haul services but has increasingly included some long-haul flights. Additional fuel on Airbus A320-family aircraft is capped at eight tonnes under the reported procedures, and Lufthansa does not currently expect cancellations.
Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport has indicated that alternative supply routes and substantial storage capacity are maintaining the airport’s operational capability. The precise duration of the constrained deliveries and their potential effect on other airlines remain unclear.
