Air Europa carried more than 8 million passengers during the 2026 summer season, a 4.3% increase from the same period a year earlier. The Spanish airline operated more than 9 million seats, implying an approximate load factor of 89%, as network expansion, additional frequencies and fleet growth supported higher traffic across domestic, European and long-haul markets.
African routes recorded the strongest growth, with passenger numbers rising by nearly 41% year on year. The increase followed the launch of the Madrid–Johannesburg service in June, Air Europa’s first route to sub-Saharan Africa, alongside additional seasonal capacity and frequencies to other African destinations.
Domestic operations, including island services, approached 3.5 million seats sold. Passenger traffic on routes linking mainland Spain rose by more than 14%, supported by new services to Oviedo and Seville.
Long-haul traffic exceeded 2.1 million passengers, nearly 3.8% above the 2025 summer season. Latin America remained the principal source of demand, contributing to growth as Air Europa expanded its network and available capacity.
