Vienna Airport invests €10 million in staff canteens

Vienna Airport has invested about €10 million in a new staff catering set-up at its site, expanding food services for more than 23,000 employees across over 250 companies operating at the airport. The new arrangement is run by Eurest after a Europe-wide tender and includes four canteens and two vending machines, with the main facility located in the terminal.

The newly opened terminal canteen covers about 570 square metres and operates daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The site-wide catering concept provides 845 seats and is currently serving roughly 1,800 to 2,200 meals a day. The vending machines extend access around the clock, particularly for shift workers.

The investment is aimed at employee welfare rather than passenger dining, underscoring the airport’s role as a major workplace as well as a transport hub. The new set-up consolidates meal provision for a large on-site workforce spread across multiple employers and operating patterns.
