NASA has awarded SpaceX a contract modification for three additional crewed missions to the International Space Station, covering Crew-15, Crew-16 and Crew-17. The firm fixed-price deal is worth $946 million and lifts SpaceX’s total under NASA’s Commercial Crew Transportation Capability programme to 17 missions, with performance running through 2030.
The award adds ground processing, launch, in-orbit operations, return and recovery, cargo transport and lifeboat capability while the spacecraft is docked at the station. NASA set mission readiness dates in 2027 and 2028, but did not release astronaut assignments or exact launch dates in this update.
The modification follows NASA’s notice of intent in May to buy additional crew flights and supports the agency’s aim of maintaining routine access to the station through two commercial partners. The total value of SpaceX’s CCtCap contract rises to $5.92 billion under the new award.
