Atlas Air Tehran–Minsk charter ends after four round trips

Atlas Air’s Tehran–Minsk charter service has stopped abruptly after only four round trips, with the last operated flight taking place on 6 September and the planned 13 September departure failing to materialise. The route was flown with a McDonnell Douglas MD-87 configured for 25 passengers, including reclining sleeping positions and a conference area, and was marketed at premium fares of roughly $960 to $1,220 one way.

The service first appeared on a seasonal basis in mid-August and operated on 16, 23 and 30 August before disappearing from the booking page. Minsk also never featured in Atlas’s official seasonal schedule, and the destination later dropped out of bookable options altogether. No public explanation accompanied the stop in operations.

The timing coincides with fresh U.S. sanctions imposed on 8 September against Atlas Aviation Group and wider pressure on Iran’s aviation sector. Belarusian operational tracking showed the route had been active for only a brief period before vanishing, leaving the cause of the termination inferred rather than formally confirmed by the airline or airport authorities.
