Oman Air pushes Muscat as hub for stopover traffic and onward Asia links

Oman Air is using Muscat International Airport as a hub for travellers combining a short stay in Oman with onward flights across Asia and beyond. The carrier’s network reaches more than 40 destinations, including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Delhi and Manila, while the stopover programme allows passengers to extend transit in Muscat for up to four days with hotels, transfers and tours arranged through Visit Oman.

The itinerary is designed for passengers travelling via Muscat from European gateways such as Frankfurt, Zurich and Munich. Examples include Frankfurt–Muscat–Bangkok, turning a connection into a brief Oman visit before continuing to the final destination.

The concept positions Muscat as more than a transfer point, aligning airline connectivity with tourism demand and premium long-haul traffic. Oman Air’s route map and stopover offer also support Oman’s broader effort to market the country as both a destination and a transit market for international travellers.
