Air Sénégal keeps GetJet operating purchased Boeing 737-800 during regulatory transfer

Air Sénégal has acquired its first owned Boeing 737-800, but GetJet Airlines will continue operating the aircraft for now under an ACMI arrangement. The jet, registered LY-SEI and presented as Gorée, remains outside Air Sénégal’s own operating certificate while certification and induction procedures are completed.

The aircraft had already been flying for the Senegalese carrier since May under wet-lease terms, and that operational setup continues during the handover. Air Sénégal now holds the economic ownership, but GetJet retains day-to-day control until the Boeing is added to the airline’s AOC.

The deal expands Air Sénégal’s medium-haul capacity while avoiding an immediate interruption to service. The 174-seat Boeing 737-800 is being used on regional routes as the flag carrier builds up its narrow-body fleet, with the Lithuanian registration still in place during the transition.
