Corendon to cut fleet to 21 aircraft for summer 2027

Corendon Airlines is preparing a sizeable fleet reduction for summer 2027, trimming its operation to about 21 aircraft from 28 owned jets plus two wet-leased aircraft this summer. The leisure carrier will not renew expiring lease contracts for around seven aircraft, while still expecting the smaller fleet to cover demand through late October and into the 2027 summer season.

Higher fuel costs and a broader review of the network are driving the move, with capacity planning under closer scrutiny across the airline’s European leisure schedule. Düsseldorf features in the route context around the adjustment, underlining the focus on Corendon’s core Germany market. Chief Commercial Officer Paul Schwaiger indicated the carrier is reassessing its schedule and capacity mix as it works to protect margins.

The planned contraction points to tighter capacity discipline in the leisure segment, where carriers are balancing demand against rising operating costs. Instead of adding aircraft, Corendon is allowing leases to expire, making the reduction immediate and deliberate rather than speculative. The shift also suggests a more cautious approach to growth as the airline enters the 2027 summer planning cycle.
