Vietjet and Thales have signed a maintenance and technology cooperation package in Paris, centred on a Repair-By-The-Hour agreement for the Vietnamese carrier’s Airbus A320 and A321 family, including A321neo and A321XLR aircraft, as well as A330neo jets. The deal aims to improve fleet reliability and availability, shorten repair times and lower lifecycle maintenance costs.
The signing took place at the Élysée Palace during the official visit of Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam to France, alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. In addition to the maintenance package, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding covering digital aviation, avionics, cybersecurity and AI-enabled airline operations.
The agreement supports Vietjet’s wider fleet expansion and maintenance strategy at a time when the airline is adding more Airbus aircraft to its operations. It also underlines growing Vietnam–France aerospace cooperation, with the Paris ceremony placing the commercial tie-up within a broader diplomatic and industrial context.
