Cathay Pacific targets 150 aircraft and 150 destinations over next decade

Cathay Pacific has set a long-term expansion target of adding 150 new aircraft and building a network of 150 destinations over the next decade as it steps up its fleet and route growth from Hong Kong. The plan forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen the carrier’s home hub and support future capacity growth across its network.

The targets are strategic goals rather than immediate changes, and are subject to market conditions. Cathay is already translating that plan into new flying, with direct passenger services to Almaty scheduled to begin on 9 January 2027. The Central Asian route will be Cathay’s first in the region and the only nonstop passenger link between Hong Kong and Kazakhstan.

The airline has also highlighted substantial capital commitment to fleet, cabin, lounge and digital investment as it prepares for the next phase of expansion. The long-term network objective points to continued demand for widebody and narrowbody aircraft as Cathay competes to widen its reach from one of Asia’s busiest aviation hubs.
