Passenger assaults BER employee after boarding refusal on Air Baltic Tallinn flight

A passenger assaulted a Berlin Brandenburg Airport employee at a departure gate after being refused boarding for being heavily intoxicated. The incident happened on 6 September during boarding for an Air Baltic flight to Tallinn, with the worker later taken to hospital and the attacker detained by airport security and federal police.

Multiple reports say the man repeatedly struck the employee for about three minutes, continuing even after the victim fell to the ground and began bleeding. Other passengers and at least one colleague tried to intervene, while another intoxicated man travelling with the suspect reportedly blocked people who moved to help. The suspect is described as a 21-year-old Estonian.

The injured employee was treated by emergency services at the airport before being transported to hospital. Authorities have not disclosed the full extent of the injuries, citing privacy reasons, and the case is under investigation by police in Brandenburg. The assault has renewed attention on violence against airport staff at one of Germany’s busiest aviation hubs.
