Etihad Airways will introduce a new global lounge concept under its Beyond Borders branding, beginning with a transformed London Heathrow lounge due to open in summer 2027. The Heathrow site will be the first lounge to fully reflect the new design language on the ground, alongside the airline’s recent cabin refresh programme.
The redesign is intended to align Etihad’s lounges more closely with its aircraft interiors and create a more consistent premium journey across airport, cabin and destination. The Heathrow lounge will feature a new custom bar, redesigned communal seating and a lobby, as well as a separate wing for First and The Residence guests with private suites. Etihad has described the concept as drawing inspiration from Abu Dhabi and the UAE, with design cues framed around a transition from sand to superstructure.
Heathrow’s lounge had already been closed for renovation in early September, with premium passengers temporarily directed to Gulf Air’s lounge in Terminal 4. Etihad has not disclosed a timetable for the wider rollout, but Heathrow will act as the first of a new generation of lounges across its network.
