GOL Linhas Aéreas has taken delivery of its first Airbus A330-900neo, opening a new phase in the Brazilian carrier’s long-haul expansion as it prepares to add widebody capacity to its network. The aircraft is the first A330-900N linked to GOL and forms part of Abra Group’s broader plan to deploy the type across its airlines.
Public reporting indicates the jet is one of up to seven A330-900neos associated with Abra’s leasing arrangement, with five allocated for GOL and two for Avianca, although the final fleet assignment remains unclear. Some coverage suggests the aircraft may initially be used for training, inspections and certification work before entering commercial service.
The addition gives GOL its first Airbus A330neo and extends a fleet strategy that has long centred on narrowbody operations. The airline has already moved into long-haul flying with transatlantic service planning, and the A330-900neo deliveries are expected to support operations on routes linking Brazil with Europe and the United States.
